Is Zillow really the most accurate way to get the value of your home?
Whenever I explain Zillow to anybody, I tell them that Zillow is there more for entertainment purposes. Basically, your neighbor can enter that their home is worth $100,000, and suddenly, your home is worth $100,000.
When I sold my first condo, I absolutely loved Zillow because it said the condo was worth $300,000, but the true market value was actually $225,000. Three years later when I sold my first single-family home, I hated Zillow because it said the home was worth $500,000 when it was actually worth $675,000.
Zillow is there more for entertainment purposes.
Zillow can be fun if you want to get an idea of what your neighbor's home might be worth or you just want to look at houses online. However, people can go on Zillow and manipulate Zillow to the point where the numbers don't make sense.
